Camp Florida is a resident owned lakefront resort community. What makes it special is the fact that residents have OWNERSHIP of the many amenities and lakefront property. Many homeowners also rent their homes for a portion of the year – sometimes to weekenders in the summer or to snowbirds in winter. Pets are allowed in a couple areas of the park, and not others to keep both pet owners and non-pet owners happy. Camp Florida Resort is gated. There is a HUGE, heated pool, quite a bit of lakefront property, a large weight room, a huge new clubhouse, docks, boat ramp, tennis courts, mini golf, shuffleboard, a boat and trailer storage area and much more. The fees are low (about $69/month, including grass cutting) for what you get and you just can’t find something like this much at all anymore.
The resort is directly on Lake Grassy, a good sized and beautiful, sandy bottomed swimming, boating and fishing lake that is one of the clearest lakes in Florida. The fishing is pretty good and there are several islands which are night time nesting areas for a variety of shore and wading birds. Grassy is also connected to Little Lake Grassy, which can be found by going through the "tunnel" under US27.
RV or vacant lots (for homes) can be purchased around $50,000-60,000 but we find the existing homes to be a MUCH better deal (unless you simply need a space for an RV - but even then, you may be better off with a parking area and park model!)
